Joana graduated in 2015 from the Red Cross School in Portugal, where she developed special interest in sports and musculoskeletal injuries – prevention and rehabilitation.

While still in college Joana volunteered to work as a physiotherapist apprentice in different sports settings: Football with adults; Gymnastics with teenagers; and Handball with adults and teenagers. She continued to work with these groups after her graduation. These experiences provided her the opportunity to deal with complex injuries and to work with people of all ages right from the beginning of her career.

Joana moved to the UK at the end of 2016, where she studied dry needling and acupuncture. She has worked in a private physiotherapy setting and continued to maintain a full case load of clients with musculoskeletal injuries. In her time in the UK she has seen an increasing number of patients with chronic lower back pain, for which she developed special interest alongside her sports injury speciality.

Her goal is to use her skills and experience to educate and increase understanding of injuries/conditions. With this groundwork, she will work with her clients to build up a treatment plan that is highly customised and in line with your goals. Through dry needling, exercise and manual therapy, Joana will be able to provide her clents the resolution of their conditions as well means to avoid or prevent injury reoccurrence.

On her free time Joana enjoys Hiking, bouldering, camping… and building Lego!
