Pilates matwork develops the basic techniques and principles of Pilates. Focusing on core exercises and postures, this form of Pilates relies entirely on the body as a means to exercise efficiently. It is by no means a less challenging workout and is a highly effective method of introducing correct posture, movement and balance.
 
These matwork sessions are available following assessment and/or physiotherapy referral only.
 
All Pilates matwork sessions at Little Venice Pilates have a maximum of four clients and provide individual targeted tuition. Exercises are provided to suit your individual goals and needs within a small group session lead by a senior or master level Pilates instructor or therapist.

 

Eleonora Sansoni (Osteo)
Registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC)

Eleonora’s training in rehabilitative care progressed from her original training as an exercise instructor and Pilates trainer (she has ten years experience as a Pilates instructor, with specialist training in Pilates for pregnancy).

She qualified as a Physiotherapist in Italy, where she gained a diploma in Physical Therapy and worked at the highly respected Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Institute in Italy for five years.

Whilst in Italy she also qualified in the Mezieres method of Physiotherapy (a whole body approach that focuses on restoring the patient’s function and pain free movement through specific postural techniques; designed to elongate the posterior myofascial chain and encourage neutral spine alignment).

Eleonora then spent a year in Australia working as a Pilates Instructor and also as a Physiotherapist for South Melbourne Women’s Football Club.

In 2012 she relocated to London where she graduated from the British School of Osteopathy with a Masters in Osteopathy, and then went on to complete a postgraduate course in Traditional Osteopathic methods. The philosophy behind this classical osteopathic technique is to treat the patient as a whole and to enable the body to restore homeostasis in order to promote health and reduce pain.

Unsurprisingly, Eleonora has a holistic approach to treatment. She seeks to identify and treat the cause of the presenting problem, rather than focusing only on relieving the symptoms. She has a breadth of experience treating a wide range of conditions, from sport injuries to chronic complaints and uses mainly hands-on techniques, although treatment can involve lifestyle advice and exercise to address maintaining factors. She has a particular interest in treating the spine as a means to enhance function to the other areas of the body.

Eleonora speaks fluent English and Italian, and is fully insured.

TenRX is Ten's expert take on suspension training. This class goes a step further than our Dynamic Pilates classes in offering an intense bodyweight-base workout that challenges the whole body from tip to (literally) toe. You don't need prior TRX experience, but you will need a reasonable level of strength, stamina, mobility and general body awareness.
It’s a gym workout not a Pilates class, so please remember to bring your training shoes.
Anser Amado
Anser has been upbeat and active from early childhood. Always keen to develop both physically and mentally, he credits his fluency in three languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese) with keeping his mind open to new influences and knowledge.

A keen footballer for many years, Anser has been passionate about exercise for as long as he can remember. Deciding to make it his career allowed him to unite his twin passions: fitness and the capability to help inspire and develop others.

With 10 years’ experience in the fitness industry, Anser specialises in strength and conditioning, weight loss, HiiT, core training, calisthenics and Reformer Pilates. He particularly enjoys bodyweight-based workouts, as he believes we should all be comfortable working with our own bodyweight before lifting weights.

His interest in Dynamic Pilates stems from understanding that the core provides the foundation for any functional movement. He soon realised the benefits it could offer for his own calisthenics training, not to mention it’s ability to help maximize performance in every any other sport or discipline.

While Anser enjoys socialising with friends and family, he’ll always ring-fence time each week to work on his own personal and fitness goals.

Despite being fascinated with the science of movement and a total sports fanatic (not many people can recite the names of every professional NHL, NFL and NBA starting line-up player and backup line-up player), Chris chose to study for and graduate with a BA in American and English History.

A background of competing in pretty much every sport he could as a teenager, with a focus on tennis and long distance running, resulted in two life-changing outcomes. First, a badly injured shoulder and two torn hamstrings. And second, the determination to understand why these injuries occurred, and how to prevent them in future, and the decision to make a career doing just that.

A qualified Personal Trainer for the past 6 years, Chris believes in using scientifically-proven training methods and lifestyle choices to create a energised, stronger inner self and prevent illness and injury. He specialises in movement-based exercise to enhance, wellness, strength and sports performance.

His methods have helped clients from all walks of life meet their goals, from aspiring martial artists and amateur MMA fighters, time-poor and impatient executives and CEOs, models, former rugby pros whose careers were cut short by injury, all the way through to enabling a 63 year old woman with no exercise experience to perform strict form bodyweight pull-ups. (Not just a source of personal pride but also a valuable reminder that it’s never too late to attempt new things in life.)

In 2013 she decided to develop her passion for fitness and went on to gain her Level 3 Pilates Instructor Certification through Body Control Pilates and has completed the pioneering Dynamic Reformer Pilates qualification accredited by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS).
 

Nadine has a particular interest in Women’s Health and holds a level 3 qualification for Pregnancy (pre and post natal). Nadine has also completed her Level 3 Personal Training Qualification with NASM in 2016. In her own training Nadine is an avid Yogi and calisthenics lover who is always keen to try the newest exercise craze.

Grace Sisto
Born in Rome, Grace moved to London aged 19, and has lived here ever since.

Her love affair with yoga started in 2009 when she saw her practice really come to life and become part of her daily routine.

Grace originally came to the mat for the physical aspect and returned because of the difference it made to her mind.

Since then, she has explored different practices and taken classes with some truly inspiring teachers, allowing her to expand her knowledge and also to properly understand what worked best for her. Having considered teacher training for several years the right opportunity for her came along in 2015 when she trained at Fierce Grace Yoga in London with Michele Pernetta.

Grace’s classes are for all – all shapes, all ages, and all backgrounds, regardless of how far you can reach your fingers down to the floor. She encourages people to listen to their bodies and be adventurous, to push their boundaries, and first and foremost to have fun with it.

Grace focuses on creating balance; between body and mind, and between flexibility and strength. Attention is drawn to alignment and breath and modifications are offered for injuries.

When she is not doing yoga related activities like practising, social networking, writing or studying, Grace likes to travel and discover new places. She’s into healthy baking, trains at least a couple of days a week and loves finding new music and artists to listen to and creating playlists for her classes.

Caroll Kerner
Caroll is originally from the Champagne region in France. To say that she likes travel and physical challenges is something of an understatement.

She has always been a keen horserider and a runner. When she moved to London she discovered Thai boxing, and after a few years’ training, moved to Kho Samui where she trained for a further five months, taking part in three fights (and winning all three).

On returning to London, she was persuaded to enter her first London Marathon – the first of 14 marathons (5 of them in London) all completed in good times, along with a100km race, which she finished in just over 10 hours.

When she lived in Australia and Vanuatu she took up cycling, and as a result found herself competing in the Alpes d’Huez. With its 21 hairpins, this is one of the legendary ascents of the Tour de France, which she climbed in just over an hour on a steel bike.

Just to add an extra element of challenge (and yet more travel), Caroll trained in Krav Maga in Israel, qualifying as an Instructor. And picking up some injuries along the way, which in turn, introduced her to Pilates and her teaching qualification.

Over the past decade she has participated in a number of courses at the some most respected institutes in the field of holistic health and exercise. With her in-depth understanding (and personal experience) that functional movement patterns are essential to maintain a healthy, efficient and pain free body, Carroll ensures that Pilates is at the core of every exercise and program that she does.

As a Trainer, Caroll is strict yet patient; a perfectionist but also a good motivator. As the basis of all Pilates, she insists on correct and transferable technique in all exercises – so you can practice in everyday life what you learn in class. But above all, she aims to develop routines that suit, stimulate and encourage everyone in her classes.

Anser has been upbeat and active from early childhood. Always keen to develop both physically and mentally, he credits his fluency in three languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese) with keeping his mind open to new influences and knowledge.

A keen footballer for many years, Anser has been passionate about exercise for as long as he can remember. Deciding to make it his career allowed him to unite his twin passions: fitness and the capability to help inspire and develop others.

With 10 years’ experience in the fitness industry, Anser specialises in strength and conditioning, weight loss, HiiT, core training, calisthenics and Reformer Pilates. He particularly enjoys bodyweight-based workouts, as he believes we should all be comfortable working with our own bodyweight before lifting weights.

His interest in Dynamic Pilates stems from understanding that the core provides the foundation for any functional movement. He soon realised the benefits it could offer for his own calisthenics training, not to mention it’s ability to help maximize performance in every any other sport or discipline.

With a background in gymnastics and dance Nadine was introduced to Pilates at the age of 15 as a means to recover from injury. After becoming one of the youngest qualified Gymnastics Club coaches registered with the British Gymnastics Association at 18, Nadine continued to practice Pilates alongside coaching at University and while working as a Trauma Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in London. In 2013 she decided to develop her passion for fitness and went on to gain her Level 3 Pilates Instructor Certification through Body Control Pilates and has completed the pioneering Dynamic Reformer Pilates qualification accredited by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS).
 

Nadine has a particular interest in Women’s Health and holds a level 3 qualification for Pregnancy (pre and post natal). Nadine has also completed her Level 3 Personal Training Qualification with NASM in 2016. In her own training Nadine is an avid Yogi and calisthenics lover who is always keen to try the newest exercise craze.

 

Don’t be fooled by her big smile and Irish accent, Nadine is a tough trainer who places a focus on functional movement alongside a really satisfying burn!

Faran Cooper
Originally from New York City, Faran has been in London for nearly 20 years.

Faran is trained through STOTT Pilates for her mat work certification, and fully qualified on the reformer through TenEducation – in fact she was one of the first Pilates instructors to pass Ten’s first ever Dynamic Reformer course for external fitness professionals, based in Notting Hill.

Through both training backgrounds, she can deliver private lessons and classes that cater to your needs- whether it be rehabilitative, traditional or dynamic styles of Pilates.

Coming from a background in modern dance – she studied at Broadway Dance Centre in New York City – Faran has been inspired to stay fit by the best movers and shakers in the business.

In addition to working for some of London’s most exclusive health and fitness hotspots, Faran also works with a number of established central London osteopaths and physiotherapists.

In her spare time, she loves to work out at her local gym in Chelsea, play with her little dog, Bentley, and travel to beach destinations to get some sun whenever she can!

Jennifer Bentley
From a young age Jen practised various disciplines of dance, including Ballet and Tap, and also Disco dancing, where she regularly danced competitively at events across the country. The first time she experienced Pilates was during dance classes as a teen, and was intrigues from the outset.

Whilst she loved her years of dancing, she moved to Bristol aged 18 to study a BA in Primary Teaching. Despite graduating with a 2.1 degree, she quickly realised that the school classroom was not for her, and that her true passion and vocation lay in movement and fitness.

In 2010 she completed her Level 3 Personal Training qualification and since then has have worked many of London’s leading gyms and fitness studios training clients 1-1 and leading TRX and PowerPlate classes. She later went on to gain her Mat Pilates certificate.

Jen credits Pilates entirely for allowing her to regain her core strength and stability and getting her back into shape quickly after the birth of her son over 4 years ago. What she loves most about Pilates is the amount of focus needed in order to execute each exercise with control and precision. Unsurprisingly, her classes will encourage you to zone out from all other distractions so you can achieve a great mind-body connection that lets you feel each movement – and its benefits.

In her free time you will find Jen spending time with her little boy and trying out different food spots in London – she does love a naughty burger – which she will burn off later at the gym!
