Every sport sets the body a unique set of challenges in movement patterns, muscle activation and injury risk. In addition, every body has it’s own unique combination of capabilities and weaknesses. A Performance PT will incorporate elements to address both these factors to help prepare your body for the demands of your chosen sport, so whatever you play you’ll be able to perform better, more safely, with less effort and for longer.
What will it be like?
It will be highly individual and functional; based around the specific techniques, patterns and requirements of your sport, your abilities, and any imbalances or dysfunctions you may have. It will help you maximise your in-game performance, whilst reducing the risk and severity of the your sport’s most common injuries.

Although you’ll see overall performance improvements and reduced injury risk, the specific benefits will depend on the sport itself.
- If you play contact sports like football and rugby, the sessions will help you stay strong and stable through tackles, and generate more power even when off balance.
- If you’re a runner, the improved joint stability, correct muscle activation and postural alignment will enable you to run further, faster and more efficiently – whilst reducing the risk of injury.
- If you’re a tennis player, you’ll strengthen the stabilising muscles, the shoulder and rotator cuff muscles, and improve the spinal flexibility – all translating to increased power and performance on court. You’ll also even out the imbalances that are inevitable for players of unilateral (one-sided) sports and that, unaddressed, often lead to postural and muscular imbalance, dysfunction and pain.
