Speed your recovery: Booking Private Physiotherapy Appointments

There has been widespread coverage of the length of waiting times for NHS treatment across multiple services, and the resulting impact on patients health and wellbeing. Physiotherapy is on one of those services, and while the impact of delays is less significant than for life threatening diseases, it is still life-altering for those needing help with recovery from injury, trauma or surgery.

Private Physiotherapy can help by providing faster and more flexible access to treatment, and quicker path to recovery. It’s one of the most affordable forms of private health treatment, and sessions can often be often paid for by Private Health insurance.

Benefits of Booking a Private Physiotherapy Appointment

There are several benefits of booking Private Physio. The most significant include:

Ease of access

Private Physiotherapy Clinics are widespread throughout the UK and are often available more locally than NHS facilities.

Greater choice of therapist

With Private Physiotherapy you can choose which Physio treats you. You may want to find a therapist who specialises in a particular discipline of area of the body, whether that’s Women’s health, sports injuries, post operative recovery or even knees, backs, shoulder or even hands. It’s also easier to change your Physiotherapist if you are not happy or comfortable with the treatment you are getting or with the individual treating you. You can often choose to see a different Physio within the same clinic, or you can change to a different clinic – you’re in charge, after all.

Speed of treatment

You are more likely to get an appointment sooner. (For instance, at Ten Health and Fitness we can usually offer private Physio appointments within a week). In many cases, the speed of recovery is directly affected by how quickly you can access treatment.

Continuity of care

You can expect to be treated by the same Physiotherapist every time you visit, so they will have assessed you personally, and will be familiar with your symptoms, the underlying cause of the issue, and also of the speed and progress of your recovery.

Private Physiotherapy Appointment

Easy booking and flexible scheduling

If you are self-paying (rather than funding session through a health insurer) there is no need to wait to be referred for Physiotherapy by a GP.

Private Physiotherapy Clinics generally offer flexible opening hours and more choice of appointment times, so you can fit them into your schedule rather than the other way around. At Ten Health and Fitness, our 11 London clinics are open till late 5 days a week. Weekend appointments are also available at several of our clinics, with more to come.

State of the art facilities and equipment

At a reputable Private Physiotherapy Clinic, you should expect to find a well-equipped, pleasant and welcoming environment, with access to high end, well-maintained and often specialist equipment, including services like shockwave therapy and VALD force plate testing.

Access to specialist Physios and tailored treatment plans

Many Private Physiotherapy practices will have several different specialists within the same clinic, so you can find the most appropriate and best qualified person for your specific needs.

For instance, at Ten Health and Fitness we have Physiotherapists specialising in Women’s Health, Pelvic health, sports injuries, pre and post-natal issues, post-operative recovery, exercise rehabilitation, and even specific areas of the body, including knees, shoulders, necks and backs. Flexible, bespoke, effective treatment

Private Physio Clinics will generally offer you the session length and frequency that will be most effective for you, so your Physiotherapist can take as much time as necessary to go into more depth about what your issues/conditions are and take more time more explanation of how they will treat you, how long your recovery should take and what you should expect from your treatment. In the NHS, sessions are a standard time length, and depending on demand, you may need to wait longer between sessions than you or your physio would like.

If you are paying for your treatment, there is also no restriction on the number of sessions you can have to fully resolve the issue or injury. Obviously, it’s in everyone’s interest that your treatment is as effective and short as possible, and no reputable Physiotherapist will continue treatment when it’s no longer necessary or beneficial.

On-going support for sustainable results

If you need physio again at a later date, it’s simple and easy to book another Private Physiotherapy appointment, without waiting to be re-referred through your GP.

Additionally, many Private Physiotherapy Clinics have contacts with local rehab specialists and personal trainers and can put you in touch so that you strengthen any affected areas post treatment to reduce the risk of injuries or issues recurring.

At Ten Health and Fitness we go one step further. At our 11 London Studios we offer something we call our Circle of Care, where our Physiotherapists work alongside our Pilates Instructors, Rehab specialists, Exercise Physiologists and Massage trainers, all under the same roof. Unique within the UK fitness sector, this integrated and collective approach enables us to share client history, knowledge and insights to create an end-to-end programme for our clients that will take then from injury and dysfunction back to full functional fitness. Online physiotherapy appointments

Many Private Physiotherapy Clinics offer online Physio appointments. These are ideal for anyone with a busy schedule or who’s not able to visit the clinic in person. Using one of the popular video platforms including Zoom, Teams and Google, most aspects of a Physio session can be covered effectively, including assessment and diagnosis, progress management, corrective exercise, education and goal setting. However it does not include the option for hands-on treatment.

How much does private physiotherapy cost?

There is no set cost for Private Physiotherapy. It will be dependent on several factors including location, the Physio’s seniority and level of expertise, and the length of the session.

As an approximate guide, expect to pay between £100 and £200 for an initial assessment in London.
