Joao Lobo Pina
Starting his career in sports at an early age, João has always been passionate about sports.

João was a professional football player for many years, playing at the highest levels and representing his country. Determined to keep football as part of his life, he enrolled in a Sports Science degree and went on to follow his dream of working in sports and fitness, as a personal trainer and also as a football coach.

Dedicated to helping people achieve their health and fitness goals, João was drawn to Pilates though its focus on body posture, awareness and the establishing of effective, safe movement patterns. With a postgraduate certificate in rehabilitation and injury prevention, João’s motivation comes from his ability to guide his clients to help them reach their physical goals consciously and safely.

When not at Ten or working out, João loves to travel, hang out with friends or watch a good movie.

Neil Dimmock
As Ten's Head of Fitness Neil has over 22 years’ fitness industry experience, managing everything from large corporate gyms to small boutique-style Pilates studios. Neil was the third Trainer to join Ten in 2008 and one of our very first Master Trainers and Studio Managers, working his magic on our Chiswick studio and our first Mayfair Studio. In 2016 we welcomed him back as our Head of Fitness for his expertise in helping clients master the fundamental movement patterns that underpin everything from our daily activities to even the most complex exercise sequences and intensive sports.

In 2011 Neil took his skills and experience to Texas where alongside his wife he set up his own Pilates studio – Green Park Pilates. In 2013 he relocated to California to teach Pilates, rehabilitative exercise, strength & conditioning and fitness classes at some of San Francisco’s leading boutique fitness studios. He also trained and qualified as a firefighter and paramedic working in San Bernadino, one of the most deprived cities in the state.

As a personal trainer he enjoys working with clients who have a clear view of the results they would like to see (regardless of what those results may be) as the best way of giving both client and trainer a strong rationale for preparation and exercise selection.

He firmly believes in the key role Pilates plays in a well-rounded exercise regime. He also an advocate for the pivotal role Pilates plays in injury rehabilitation and in the reformer as an extremely important piece of equipment when recovering from injury for its ability to allow a client to focus on the alignment of their body whilst engaging important stabilizing muscles. Whatever the exercise method or piece of equipment, Neil is able to pull the best from it. For him there is value of a wide variety of fitness disciplines and the benefits of opening ourselves up to new exercise experiences.

Neil has spent most of his sporting life playing football and in the last four years has competed in Marathons and Triathlons – enjoying the process of preparing for an event and putting his vast and in-depth fitness knowledge to practical use.

Liam Rodgers (Physio)
With a degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland and a breadth of clinical experience in both Australia and the UK, Liam brings and in-depth understanding of anatomy and pathology to his classes.
 
With a background in dance and mat work pilates he places great emphasis on control and technique, whilst still making sure his sessions challenge his clients’ physical and fitness limits.
 
Liam chose to complete the TenAcademy in Dynamic Reformer Pilates to help teach his clients how to better control their body, get them stronger and ultimately moving better in daily life.
 
As a practicing Physiotherapist, Liam has extensive experience in exercise rehabilitation so for anyone looking for a rehabilitative or prehabilitative pilates experience his class are not to be missed. Classes can often have a yoga or dance element infused to broaden the client experience.
 
Bringing an upbeat and infectious energy (impressively even in his 7am session– Liam’s definitely a morning person), you won't leave his class without a smile, some aching muscles and a few beads of sweat.

Jemma-Rae James
Jemma holds a degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She was first introduced to Pilates during her undergraduate studies.

As a practicing Physiotherapist and Trainer at Ten she recognises the significance of functional strength and core stability in treating and preventing injuries. She chose to complete Ten’s Dynamic Reformer Pilates Academy in order to further her expertise in helping others to move and control their bodies better.

Jemma is very athletic and has participated in most sports from childhood. She currently competes in endurance sports such as road cycling, mountain biking and triathlons. Her active involvement in dynamic sporting environment perfectly equips her to understand the physical demands related to exercise, and has given her more extensive personal experience than she’d really like of the impact that pain and injury has on quality of life.

Jemma loves to get people moving and firmly believes that Reformer Pilates is a brilliant form of exercise for all fitness levels.

Her classes are aimed at empowering both the body and the mind, and challenging you to become a stronger and more rejuvenated version of yourself. Her feel-good music and infectious energy will leave you walking out with a big smile on your face.

When she’s not teaching classes or treating clients, Jemma spends her free time getting in touch with her artsy side by sketching and painting and loves reading autobiographies on sporting celebrities and adventurers.

Adam Ridler
Sport was always something Adam had a passion for, leading him to study Sports Science at university, initially focusing on strength & conditioning and performance enhancement, but quickly developing skills in other areas.

It was whilst studying that Adam’s other passion emerged, as he was introduced to rowing. He went on to become part of the Great British Lightweight development squad, enabling him to work alongside Olympic champion coaches and athletes.

Working with people to help them move well and understand their bodies is something Adam particularly enjoys. For him, what brings greatest satisfaction is working with people to overcome barriers, unlock their potential and understand what makes them feel their best brings.

Adam is a hugely experienced fitness professional. In addition to spending many years as a Personal Trainer and Dynamic Reformer Pilates instructor, he has also worked in corporate wellness, teaching employees to become more active throughout the day, and understanding both the short term performance and long term health benefits this brings.

He has also worked in the emerging and increasingly important field of Exercise as Medicine, leveraging the latest insights and data to demonstrate how exercise can be an important element in the prevention, treatment and recovery process for various illness and diseases.

By keeping an eye on the latest research and key opinions Adam believes in following the best practice and evidence based methods to continue to move forward with his skills and teaching methods.

Away from the studio Adam will most likely be found outdoors, ideally on the water, and whenever possible, competing at major national events.

Martyn James
Martyn studied Sports Therapy at the Metropolitan University of London and has since gained experience in many disciplines of sports training, functional rehabilitation and sports conditioning. Martyn credits his focus on discipline and performance, along with his fundamental training principles, to his past in the Royal Air Force. Whilst serving, he represented the RAF and combined services Athletics team as a sprinter and would regularly train, travel and compete all over Europe and America. At heart Martyn is an adventurer, and has crossed India, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and California on the back of a motorcycle – his preferred mode of transport for any holiday. Always open to new ideas and principles, Martyn approaches each class individually to make the raining experience as enjoyable, varied and effective as possible.

Francesca Denton
Francesca has loved sport and exercise from childhood, playing everything from netball and football, to street dance and charity half marathons.

She discovered Kickboxing whilst studying Sport and Exercise Science at Loughborough University, and having trained for 4 years to achieve her black belt she became the ladies university middleweight national champion in 2017.

Francesca has always been an advocate of Exercise as Medicine, leading her to complete a placement year at the Leicester Diabetes Research Centre at Leicester General Hospital and also at The National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine. Working closely with physiotherapists, doctors and research staff, she gained valuable experience and knowledge of clinical exercise with a range of different populations particularly diabetic, COPD and cardiac patients.

Through her research experience, evidence-based practice has become one of her core values. She continually strives to apply new findings to improve her client’s workouts.

Keen to create a more a holistic approach to treating and training her clients, Francesca completed her sports massage qualification. She believes massage should be an important element of any client’s programme, not just to help tackle and prevent injuries, but also for relieving tension and stress from daily life as well as to improve recovery between exercise sessions.

Committed helping people live healthy, fulfilled and happy lives through exercise, no matter what their ability, Francesca’s passion is to help people learn to love exercise and to build their confidence to tackle new challenges they first thought were unachievable. She believes celebrating the little steps of progress is the key to maintaining any exercise routine, whether you are a beginner or expert, to help you reach for those giant goals.

In her spare time, she enjoys walking in the countryside with her dog, training in the gym or sparring in the ring and going to the theatre. At any chance she can get, she loves to dance, no matter where she is, particularly salsa.

Emily Parker (Physio/Pilates)
Emily graduated from King’s College London with a First Class Hons degree in Physiotherapy. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

She started her career working in the NHS, becoming a specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, one of the leading NHS hospitals in London. Here she gained valuable experience in both assessment and treatment working with a variety of patients with a multitude of pain and discomfort, including pre and post-operative sporting injuries, and acute and chronic conditions.

During this time, she also worked in the private sector at a specialist running clinic, giving her the opportunity to work with elite level runners, as well as cyclists. This experience has developed Emily’s skills in efficient and safe rehabilitation; so that she is able to help her clients’ better their performance and reach their goals faster and more safely.

Having also completed two ski seasons in Japan, Emily has a special interest in slope-related injuries.

Whether performance related or not, Emily centres her treatment on a combination of education, hands-on techniques and targeted exercise prescription. As a result she is able not only to not only treat the problem effectively, but also to address any biomechanical issues and prevent recurrence.

Emily has grown up with dance as a major feature in her life. She’s also a keen long-distance cyclist. In her spare time she practices Pilates, meaning that she’s no stranger to the physical benefits of improving strength and movement patterns.
