Lyndall Smith
Born and raised in South Africa, Lyndall’s interest in health and fitness stems from a young age. Since she was 8 years old, she was part of a lifesaving fraternity and represented both KZN and Gauteng in Surf and Stillwater Lifesaving.

Having served her community as a voluntary life guard at various aquatic venues for over four years, it’s no surprise that her interest in physical fitness and medical related services developed further and led her to pursue a Bachelors of Arts in Human Movement Science.

She then went on to further her education and achieve a Bachelor of Medical Science Biokinetics, giving her the knowledge to improve a person’s quality of life through individualised assessments and scientifically-based exercise prescription.

Following this, she secured a placement at the Sport Science Institute of South Africa where she worked in both the Orthopaedic and Neurological Centre, and the Fitness Centre, allowing her to further her knowledge and gain valuable experience with various clinical populations.

Lyndall focuses on the maintenance of her clients physical abilities, helping them to become fit, healthy and pain free. Her approach is considerate, encouraging and personal, and she prides herself on her ability to improve the quality of her client’s lives through the quality of their movement.

When she’s not in studio, she’s most likely to be exploring (and enjoying) London’s many food markets or enjoying a walk around the park.

Adam Ridler
Sport was always something Adam had a passion for, leading him to study Sports Science at university, initially focusing on strength & conditioning and performance enhancement, but quickly developing skills in other areas.

It was whilst studying that Adam’s other passion emerged, as he was introduced to rowing. He went on to become part of the Great British Lightweight development squad, enabling him to work alongside Olympic champion coaches and athletes.

Working with people to help them move well and understand their bodies is something Adam particularly enjoys. For him, what brings greatest satisfaction is working with people to overcome barriers, unlock their potential and understand what makes them feel their best brings.

Adam is a hugely experienced fitness professional. In addition to spending many years as a Personal Trainer and Dynamic Reformer Pilates instructor, he has also worked in corporate wellness, teaching employees to become more active throughout the day, and understanding both the short term performance and long term health benefits this brings.

He has also worked in the emerging and increasingly important field of Exercise as Medicine, leveraging the latest insights and data to demonstrate how exercise can be an important element in the prevention, treatment and recovery process for various illness and diseases.

By keeping an eye on the latest research and key opinions Adam believes in following the best practice and evidence based methods to continue to move forward with his skills and teaching methods.

Brad Emmott
Born in South Africa, raised in New Zealand and recently arrived in London, Brads’ career choice was decided at the age of 12.

Playing multiple competitive sports and pushing the limits of how many games of sport one parent should be asked to sit through in a week, Brad has always known he wanted to be in the health and fitness industry.

After finishing school he continued to further his education in the fitness industry, completing 3 certificates in fitness, before completing BSc in Sport & Exercise in 2010.

Brad’s career in health and fitness took off when he experienced how exercise could impact the lives of everyday people struggling with a health condition – an insight that changed his aim in life, from giving someone a thick chest and arms to helping people create a more holistic and long lasting approach to health in their own lives.

Brad has extensive experience as an Exercise Specialist and Personal Trainer, and has run boot camps in New Zealand. More recently – and for him much more importantly – he also spent 5 years as an Exercise Physiologist in a leading health and wellness centre. Here he worked not only with able bodied clients, but also became increasingly passionate about working with clients with a vast range of disabilities and injuries – and who couldn’t get help anywhere else.

Brad’s beliefs and approach to fitness and health is all about sustainable and lasting benefits – that means no fad diets and no 6-pack in 7 days.

In the weekends you’ll find Brad training, studying, watching rugby, snowboarding or doing backflips anywhere he can.

Melissa James
Melissa has been dancing for about as long as she could walk, starting with Tap lessons at the age of four.

Her dedication from such a young age eventually paid off as he was taken on as a professional dancer for New Zealand’s top entertainment company, Diamond. She went on to spend seven years performing with Diamond, where her credits included New Zealand’s X-Factor and The Real Housewives of Auckland, alongside numerous sporting events and music videos.

During this time, she also studied at the University of Auckland to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Dance Studies, where she focused on dance education and developed a passion to teach others.

Having spent many years swept up in the world of dance both professionally and educationally, it’s no surprise that she discovered Barre in 2014 and quickly began teaching Barre in her home country, New Zealand. Now that she’s settled into London it’s all about TenBarre.

Having previously used Pilates to support her own post injury rehab, she’s also a big advocate of it’s benefits. She’s adamant that Pilates should be a part of everybody’s fitness regime – alongside Barre, of course – and that’s why Ten is the perfect place for her to continue pass on her breadth of Barre expertise.

Whatever the workout, she believes that our bodies were made to move, and she loves helping anyone of any age, shape, ability and background find enjoyment in movement.

When she’s not teaching Barre classes at Ten, Melissa enjoys leading a busy life, which often includes soaking up West End shows, live music and dancing, of course!

Away from the studio Adam will most likely be found outdoors, ideally on the water, and whenever possible, competing at major national events.

No prior experience is necessary for this class; a basic level of fitness is helpful but not essential. Clients are introduced to the equipment, techniques and some basic exercises. Recommended as your first class with Ten or for those of you who would like to practice at a gentler pace - though it's still more than enough of a workout to get those all important endorphins going. 55 mins.

Away from the studio Adam will most likely be found outdoors, ideally on the water, and whenever possible, competing at major national events.
