Aimee has always had a fascination with human biology, and a desire to help improve others’ quality of life. Pursuing this passion, she gained a level 5 Diploma with NLSSM and went on to work with clients from all walks of life – not just the sports focused. She has treated a range of conditions including muscle sprains, back and shoulder aches, plantar fasciitis, scoliosis and chronic shoulder dislocation.
While Aimee enjoys the process of relieving immediate pain, she also focuses on the long-term goals of massage therapy such as aiding recovery and managing and reducing chronic pain. She came to understand the benefits of this during her training, in which she based a case study on her father’s monoplegia. Instant improvements were great, but working on external aspects such as regular treatments, posture, stretching, and strengthening, created a more collaborative, long-term effect.
Aimee likes to use a range of techniques and pressures, exploring what each client responds to best. No two people are the same, and some may feel more improvement from a lighter more relaxing session, involving more general massage techniques, whereas others may require deeper stretch-based alternatives, such as STR or MET. Everyone’s goals are different – be it improved function, better recovery, relaxation, or pain relief. Aimee is adept at establishing what each individual wants, and working with them to achieve this.
Outside of the clinic, Aimee loves to keep active and try out new HIIT workouts. Having trained in the creative industry earlier in life, she also dabbles in the voice-over world from time to time.
