Favourite things to treat:
Lower limb sporting injuries, lower back pain and shoulder/neck injuries.
Having represented his school at both Borough and County level in a wide range of team sports, including Football, Rugby and Rowing, Joe’s passion for health and fitness began at a young age. As he grew older, it became apparent that he would need to make a difficult decision about which sport to focus on professionally, and he decided on football.
Whilst he enjoyed success as an Academy Football Player, he also experienced the first-hand impact of sporting success on the mechanics and wellbeing of both the mind and body. This inspired him to consider an alternative career in Sports Rehabilitation and he subsequently enrolled at St Mary’s University to pursue this goal.
Since graduating, Joe has joined the Strength and Conditioning team at Cranleigh School. There he conducts sports specific group programmes and 1-1 sessions on strength and conditioning, as well as running sports injury rehab programmes for elite athletes linked to National Hockey, National Golf, the Harlequins Rugby Academy and Surrey Cricket Academy.
His experience means that Joe has a detailed knowledge of musculoskeletal pathologies and how to treat them with various massage therapy techniques, taping, and exercise prescription.
As a graduate in Sports Rehabilitation, Joe has a detailed knowledge of musculoskeletal pathologies and how to treat them with the use of various massage therapy techniques, taping, and exercise prescription.
Joe works closely with Ten’s Physio and Trainer teams, to deliver the complete Circle of Care and ensure that he is able to help all people, with variety of backgrounds to reach their goals. So whether you’re an office worker with lower back pain or a professional athlete seeking to improve performance or recover from an injury or event, Joseph can provide you with a treatment plan.
Specifically, he offers a personalised plan of prescriptive exercises and massage, based on the principles of rehabilitation, to improve quality of movement, reduction of symptomatic tissue pain as well as strengthening of the tissue itself. It’s a prescriptive and therapeutic approach that will address both the cause and management of symptoms to ensure the fastest recovery time and a healthier outcome going forward.
When he’s not in the treatment room, Joe can be found maintaining his passion for actively playing sport as as he continues to play semi-professional football.
